Davies broke his own marks in both the shot put and discus F42 events, registering throws of 15.92 metres in the former and 48.87m in the latter.

His previous bests of 14.71m, which he set in winning World Championship gold in Lyon in 2013, and 48.70m were blown out of the water as he improved them by respective margins of 1.21m and 17 centimetres.

Joining Davies on the nominations list are Russian Alpine skier Alexey Bugaev, American Nordic skier Oksana Masters, Dutch snowboarder Chris Vos and Argentinian wheelchair tennis player Gustavo Fernandez.

French rower Perle Bouge, who posted a new world record time of 3 min 47.5sec in the women's 1,000m TA event at the national Indoor Rowing Championships in Paris, is also nominated after taking 4.7 seconds off her previous best set in 2013.

The 17-year-old Bugaev was in imperious form at the Alpine Skiing World Cup Finals in St Moritz, defeating compatriot Alexander Alyabyev in the men's standing to complete an unbeaten World Cup slalom season.

He backed this up with wins in the downhill and super-combined events at the International Ski Federation's NorAm Cup.

Another 17-year-old, Vos, celebrated his birthday last month with two world titles at the Para-Snowboard World Championships in La Molina, Spain.

The world number one reigned supreme in the SB-LL1 class's snowboard cross head-to-head and banked slalom.

Masters, who is competing in only her second Nordic Skiing World Cup season, leads the rankings after winning four out of five sitting races in Asahikawa, Japan.

Fernandez, meanwhile, claimed the first International Tennis Federation 1 Series singles title of the year after beating Belgium's Joachim Gerard in three-sets to win the ABN AMRO World Wheelchair Tennis Tournament in Rotterdam.

The nominations are compiled from submissions by National Paralympic Committees and International Federations, with the public having until 12pm CEST on Monday (March 9) to make their choice.

Votes can be cast via the IPC website here.

Nordic skier Andrew Soule of the United States was voted the winner for January after the Paralympic bronze medallist made history by becoming the first US athlete to win five medals at the Nordic Skiing World Championships on home snow in Cable, Wisconsin.
